Materials & Spiked Objects

Choose material textures for supported shapes and tune the inner body and outer spikes of composite objects independently.

Creator guide

What you can build

Choose material textures for supported shapes and tune the inner body and outer spikes of composite objects independently.

The options below are grouped by the way you use them. Available controls depend on the selected object, editor mode and enabled features.

Options and behavior

Find the control you need, then follow the setup steps to test it in a level.

Masked materials

Masked materials options
OptionWhat it does
Material TypeChoose the material for the supported shape. Changing material can also reset material-specific physical defaults, so recheck density, friction and restitution afterward.
Texture ScaleSet the material repeat scale without changing the object dimensions.
Texture Offset X (m) / Texture Offset Y (m)Move the material pattern across the shape. These controls use meters.
Texture Flip X / Texture Flip YMirror the material pattern horizontally or vertically.
Disable Default BevelDisable the shape's default edge treatment.
Enable Damage SkinShow a damage appearance on supported shapes as damage increases.
Damage Skin Scale / Damage Skin Offset X / Damage Skin Offset YAdjust the size and placement of crack artwork. The cracks are an overlay; changing them does not change the physics shape.

Spiked composite objects

Spiked composite objects options
OptionWhat it does
Use Single MaterialUse the single-material option when the body and spikes should share their treatment.
Spike CountSet the spike count on supported procedural spike objects.
Inner Material / Outer Spikes MaterialChoose separate materials for the central body and surrounding spikes.
Inner / Outer Texture ScaleSet the pattern repeat scale for each component independently.
Inner / Outer Texture Offset X (m) / Y (m)Move the pattern across the chosen component.
Inner / Outer Texture Flip X / YMirror the pattern on the chosen component.
Inner / Outer Enable BevelEnable the component's edge treatment.
Inner / Outer Bevel SizeTune the size of the edge effect.
Inner / Outer Bevel AlphaTune the opacity of the bevel effect.
Inner / Outer Bevel SmoothTune smoothing separately from bevel size and opacity.

Creator guide

Try it in a level

Start with a small scene so each setting has a visible result.

  1. Choose a supported shape and select Material Type in Object Settings.
  2. Adjust texture scale and offsets, then check the object at its gameplay size.
  3. For a spiked composite, tune inner and outer materials separately.
  4. Recheck physics defaults and damage behavior in play mode before saving.

If the result looks wrong

Use the symptom to find the next setting to check.

Changing a texture does not change the outline

Material settings affect the fill. The object type and physics-body settings determine its shape.

Physics changes after choosing a material

Material selection applies material defaults. Tune the final physical values after choosing the material.
