Glass & Custom Tubes

Guide objects through transparent passages built from glass tube pieces or configurable procedural tubes.

What you can build

Guide objects through transparent passages built from glass tube pieces or configurable procedural tubes.

The options below are grouped by the way you use them. Available controls depend on the selected object, editor mode and enabled features.

Options and behavior

Find the control you need, then follow the setup steps to test it in a level.

Glass tube pieces

Glass tube pieces options
OptionWhat it does
Straight / Straight BigUse a straight channel for short or long passages.
Quarter Circle / Half / ThirdUse curved channel pieces. The curved pieces follow their visible wall shapes; the passage between the walls is a sensor rather than a solid block.
Wall collisionThe inner and outer walls are solid. Match adjacent tube ends and keep the passage wide enough for the moving object.
Damage SkinSupported glass tubes draw crack artwork over the glass when damage is enabled.

Custom tube controls

Custom tube controls options
OptionWhat it does
Tube Radius X / Tube Radius YSet the horizontal and vertical radii of a curved custom tube.
Tube Angle / Tube PrecisionChoose the curve extent and its geometric precision.
Tube Width / Tube HeightSet the dimensions of a supported custom tube shape.
Tube Thickness / Tube Wall ThicknessTune the tube band and wall thickness. Check the resulting passage size in play mode.
Tube AlphaSet tube transparency so objects inside remain visible.
Enable Tube Wall Texture / Wall Texture TypeEnable and choose a material for the walls.
Use Wall Bevel Texture / Wall Texture Compression / Wall Texture ScaleTune the wall texture treatment and repeat scale.
Enable Tube Texture Fill / Tube Texture Type / Tube Texture Fill ScaleEnable and configure the fill treatment of the tube.

Try it in a level

Start with a small scene so each setting has a visible result.

  1. Build a short channel from compatible pieces before making a full route.
  2. Align the open ends and test a ball that fits the passage.
  3. For a custom tube, tune dimensions, wall thickness and precision before decorating it.
  4. Test entrances, exits and joins at the expected speed, using Debug Draw to inspect collision if needed.

If the result looks wrong

Use the symptom to find the next setting to check.

A ball catches at a join

Check position, rotation and scale of both pieces. Inspect the wall edges with Debug Draw.

The whole passage blocks motion

Confirm you used a tube object and that its wall settings leave enough room for the moving object.
