Attach a Ragdoll to a Vehicle

Seat a ragdoll on a bicycle or attach it to a scooter, fit the character and vehicle sizes, and keep the rider connected during play.

Creator guide

How to attach a rider

  1. Place a ragdoll and a Mountain Bike, City Bicycle, Road Bicycle or Scooter in the level.
  2. Open Ragdoll Settings and turn off Enable Movement. Stand, Balance and Walk must be disabled before attaching.
  3. Choose Attach To Vehicle, select the bicycle or scooter in the scene, and confirm the attachment. Cancel leaves the scene unchanged.
  4. If the sizes do not fit, use the resize popup to choose whether to resize the ragdoll or the vehicle, or cancel and adjust the setup yourself.
  5. Play on flat ground and check the rider and vehicle together. Configure the vehicle drive controls separately, then save your level.

Rider controls

OptionWhat it does
Attach To VehicleChoose a supported bicycle or scooter in the scene. The editor fits a riding pose and creates the attachment joints.
Detach From VehicleRemove the generated rider connections so the ragdoll can be edited separately again.
Enable MovementTurn this off before attachment. Stand, Balance or Walk would compete with the riding pose.
Ragdoll SkinChange the rider skin while attached. Body size and structural edits may require detaching first.

What holds the rider in place

On a bicycle, the hands, feet and pelvis attach with additional revolute joints. On a scooter, the hands connect to the handlebar and the feet are welded to the deck. The ragdoll keeps its anatomical joints.

The vehicle still uses its existing drive system. The rider attachment does not add a pedal-to-wheel transmission or a scooter kick motor. Skateboards are not supported by Attach To Vehicle.

Creator guide

Why attachment can fail

Attach To Vehicle is disabled

Disable Enable Movement in Ragdoll Settings, including Stand or Balance, and try again.

The hands or feet cannot reach

Choose one of the resize options. The character needs to reach the seat, handlebar and pedals within its joint limits.

The rider is attached but the vehicle does not move

Check the vehicle motor, drive wheels and input settings. Rider attachment alone does not power the wheels.
